Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards which included her first Oscar for her movie Piano. In her early years, the accomplished actress began playing on stage for various Broadway or Off Broadway productions. She is a lover of acting from the time she started high school. The first time she appeared in a play in fifth grade was as Helen Keller. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in one ear, but she did not allow this to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. As a young woman she studied drama in the college level and then moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could follow her dreams. Hunter came across Beth Henley by chance in the lift. Together they composed Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. The role she was offered came in the role of an actress playing the lead character of Swing Shift. Her work spans over thirty years and she's appeared in numerous TV shows, films and series. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and won Women in Film Lucy Award.
